The concept was to become the positive Friday night alternative for young adults in Logan, UT. In order to realize this, the church tore into their newly remodeled building to install a smoothie bar and creperie. On opening night, Advénte hosted 35 university students for TGIF – Food, Friends, and Fellowship.
International university students were especially attracted to the program and easily bonded with church members through in-home Sabbath afternoon lunches and wilderness campouts. Advénte continues to attract new students and has built partnerships with other collegiate ministries at Utah State University, Logan.
Advénte has had the opportunity to sponsor a Campus Catalyst session with Ron Pickell and has sponsored two university students to attend the extended Campus Catalyst program provided by Adventist Christian Fellowship. By investing individually in students, they in turn have no problem inviting their friends to church sponsored activities.
After reflecting on the successes and opportunities presented by the Advénte program, church leaders have decided to pursue the establishment of a new Millennial café church in the fall of 2016. Rather than put the café in the church, Advénte wants to put the church in the café. This café church in Logan, UT is being designed as a prototype for rapid multiplication in city centers throughout the West Coast. Stay tuned.
