What motivates a father and son to secure an abandoned chassis of a 1914 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, then dedicate 4 years of their lives (some 15,000 hours) to restoring it to its original glory? Obviously, this Adventist family has a passion for restoring quality cars. In fact, they have been restoring them for years.
Recently, I had the privilege of meeting Fred Buess and his family in Sonora, California, to view the car and hear the story. It is a glorious work of functional art. To view the video visit SpiritFlash.org.
As I spoke with Fred about the effort that went into the restoration of the Silver Ghost, I couldn't help but think about the time and energy that God continually pours into restoring broken lives. Many hearts have been damaged through poor decision making, or by falling in with people who are manipulative and abusive. The world doesn't care about the inner longings of those it beckons, only that it is able to experience more excitement and fun!
When it comes to people, Jesus is the best restoration artist there is! His mission is to restore each one to their original glory, in newness of life! He alone has the knowledge and power to make this happen. We alone can choose to let Him do it.
